PRELUDE

*GATHERING SONG (VU #400) (3x)
Lord, listen to your children praying,
Lord, send your Spirit in this place;
Lord, listen to your children praying,
send us love, send us power, send us grace!

WELCOME AND CALL TO WORSHIP
One:    A way parts and God’s presence is recognized among us.
All:        A path is made by the footsteps of faith
        and we merge with the generations before us
        to be people of faith in our time and place.
One:    Let us worship God.

*OPENING HYMN #642   Be Thou My Vision

LIGHTING OF THE CHRIST CANDLE

INVITATION TO PREPARE FOR WORSHIP    (Prayer to be read in silence)
    God of prophets both ready and reluctant,
    may our hearts be renewed by your Spirit -
    a Spirit that opens our eyes to your vision for the world;
    a Spirit who invites us to pick up the call as prophets of your way.  May we be receptive to your Sprit, we pray.

*HYMN #509   I, the Lord of Sea and Sky   (Children come forward during last verse)

THEME CONVERSATION

MINUTE FOR MISSION: National Aboriginal Day - Kate van Veen

THE LORD’S PRAYER (Sung) (Sing last verse Hymn #509 as children leave, remain seated.)

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
One:    When the flame goes out, and we imagine ourselves not good enough,
    when the way is too difficult, and we can find no one else to lead,
    when the gifts seem thin, and we feel we cannot find the way,
All:    whisper your presence, O God.
One:    When the questions are too deep and there is no way to seek an answer,
    when the mantle is unworn and we are the only ones to pick it up,
    when the world is tough and your calling even tougher,
All:    whisper your presence, O God.
One:    May we find a new vision to dream,
    may we find a new language to speak,
    may we find a new daring within our souls,
All:    whisper your presence, O God.

You shall go out with joy and be led forth with peace;
