Social Action

Churches have always had plenty to say about injustice, war, greed and bullying. We are trying to turn this attitude into action at George Street United. We have an excellent role model in the life of Jesus and many others before and after him. Part of our commitment to social action is the care and feeding of our community; we never stop working to build the sense and reality of community, both inside and outside the walls of the church. Another important aspect is speaking out in the most effective places, at the most effective times. You will find our ministry leaders to be forthright, candid and direct in addressing the wrongs, harms and exclusions in our own neighbourhood, city, province and country. And you will find us generous in support of global causes that matter.

Quotes

"We prepared for seventy guests on Thanksgiving, but we only had forty-nine people so we were able to share extra with those who hung around hoping for more. They are so appreciative of everything they get. Louella cooked a turkey and made sandwiches from it. They were a big hit. Without your generous gifts of time, food and cash we could not provide such a needed service. How much we take for granted."
