People & Programs – Sunday School

Children three and older are warmly welcomed to join our Sunday School. On Sunday mornings, children join the adults for the first part of our worship service where they are invited to participate in worship by partaking in Communion, and by reading scripture, sharing prayers or playing a musical instrument. Children lead our worship services four times a year during our all-ages Worship Services.

Most weeks after the ministers have a Theme Conversation with children gathered round them in our worship service, the children are invited upstairs to their Gathering Room – where they meet as a group with their teachers and one of our ministers for a time of sharing, prayer, singing and a bible story. Children then go to one of two classrooms – 3-5 year olds, or 6 years old and older.

We follow the Seasons of the Spirit Curriculum and we add a variety of other activities to Sunday School to keep it interesting, challenging and fun. Some examples include baking (that is somehow relevant to a bible story or weekly theme), guest speakers, and games.

We have six Sunday School Teachers who share great knowledge and enthusiasm with our children. As per United Church policy, they all have current police checks.
