Future – Emerging Spirit

Emerging Spirit Emerging Spirit is an initiative of the United Church of Canada focused on establishing and nurturing a relationship between the United Church and Canadians aged 30-45.

Emerging Spirit Mandate:

a. Raise awareness and recognition of the values and beliefs of The United Church of Canada among 30-45 year olds.
b. Create a willingness among non-church-goers to discover a United Church congregation.
c. Renew a sense of positive identity and enthusiasm for mission among United Church congregations.
d. Equip United Church congregations for ministry in the new Canadian context.

Currently, Emerging Spirit is working through three major initiatives:

  • Living the Welcome – congregational training events for welcoming ministry

  • www.wondercafe.ca – an interactive web forum which invites the public to explore spiritual, moral, and faith issues and learn more about The United Church of Canada

  • A national media campaign – extensive advertising launched in December 2006 using three different types of media: magazines, viral video, and the Internet.
